Eternia - Exploration Rules

The objective of the exploration phase is to navigate through the ever-changing dungeon, discover new rooms, and interact with various events and challenges.

Actions

During the exploration phase, players can choose from the following actions:

  1. Move: The player can choose to move to a new room. Players have the freedom to move in any direction (north, south, east, or west) from their current room. If the player moves in a direction that currently does not have a room, that player needs to generate a new room by drawing cards from the deck to determine the biome, room type, and event for the newly created room.
  2. Loot: The player can search the room for loot and treasures. Looting can reward the player with valuable items, weapons, or resources.
  3. Rest: The player can choose to rest and regain health. While resting, the player cannot move or take any other actions until their next turn.
  4. Use Skill: The player can use a skill that their character possesses. Skills should be relevant to the exploration phase and can provide various advantages or abilities.

Group Movement

Players can choose whether to stick together as a group or split up and explore different rooms. When a player decides to move, other players can choose to follow or stay behind in the current room. This allows for both cooperative exploration and individual decision-making.

Room Generation

When a player moves to a new room, the room is generated by referring to the Room Generation Rules. This section provides detailed instructions on how to determine the biome, room type, and event by drawing specific cards within predefined ranges. By consulting the Room Generation Rules and following the guidelines, players can uncover the unique characteristics of the new room. This interactive process enhances immersion and adds an element of surprise as players explore the game world according to the prescribed rules.

Room Events

Each room may contain an event, such as traps, puzzles, encounters, or other surprises. The events add excitement, challenge, and variety to the exploration phase. Players must resolve the events to progress further in the dungeon.
